History

For Naked April's Salt Lake City gig that coincided with the 2002 Winter Olympics, we thought it would be really cool to have a sampler of our music, which we could sell at a reduced price (or even give away), to the throngs of people we figured would be packing the club (after all, it was less than a mile from the medals plaza). Great idea, except for two things: first, the graphics in the initial print run were so horribly flawed that we couldn't bring ourselves even to give it away; second, since the club where we played was outside (just barely) the circle of official Olympics activities, it fell victim (along with most clubs and restaurants similarly situated) to a weird fate — namely, that business dropped off precipitously, even threatening the financial health of some establishments. Locals stayed away from downtown SLC to avoid the anticipated traffic — which turned out to be not bad at all — and visitors had no idea what was available to them, outside of the officially-designated sites. So, we would have ended up giving away samplers with inferior graphics, to a much smaller crowd than any other we have played for (you could have counted the paying customers on two hands).

It all worked out in the end. After some wrangling with the vendor who did the unacceptable job, we moved our duplication and replication business to Fast Forward Recording, and ended up getting a much better printing of the sampler; we have been selling it at our gigs ever since.

How to Buy

The cheapest way to get hold of Call Out The Changing Tune is to catch us at one of our performances, but it's still pretty inexpensive to buy it here, on our Shop page! All in all, it's an easy way to get a taste of the music of Naked April and Kent Rytting and Nick Bennett.
