Resuming a practice that has been mostly on hold for a year or more, the founding members of Naked April recently gathered for a short (three days) retreat in a cabin in the Uintah mountains of Utah. The objective was to work on new music, including a couple of songs that have been in progress for a year or more (we work slowly - so sue us).

While the music-by-committee nature of such retreats can be frustrating at times to all of us, there are usually at least a few moments when everything clicks, time disappears, and new music flows easily from our fingers. This retreat was no exception - though the fact that each of us seemed to pick different moments as the high point of the weekend is probably symptomatic of each of us being in slightly different places right now (in my opinion), in our relationships with music.

Kent Rytting and I are still trying to figure out what to do with the recordings from the retreat. We will probably end up making almost all of it available on line, though we might do so in the form of weekly podcasts. So stay tuned!

Unfortunately, at almost precisely the moment that we fixed the posting problem with the guestbook, it became a target for spam and hack attempts.

Since changing over the site to a new content management system last month, the guestbook module has been malfunctioning. Some messages were stored into the database correctly, while others were not. We were finally able to put the time into tracking the problem down, and it has now been corrected.

From time to time, we have made tracks which are not quite "cooked" available on-line. Here on the new site, the first such track is "Surprised", which we expect to put on the next Naked April album (due sometime in 2006).
